Let's be mail pals! A bit about me.
Hi friend! Tired of being at the mercy of social media algorithms I'm trying something new similar to a blog and it should feel like a pen pal. 🌿
I've been on the internet forever and mainly use it to stay connected with friends and acquaintances. I like seeing what new hobbies people have picked up, which projects they are working on and how and what topics are important to them. Since none of my social media accounts give me the kind of connectedness, knowledge sharing, and discussion I'm getting back to the roots of mailing to see if it can do the trick.
For those new here, I'm Linda. I currently work as a Production Director at an indie game developer and have worked in the game industry for over seven years now. A lot of my life revolves around it because I enjoy the opportunity this relatively new industry offers in defining production, leadership, and collaboration. It still feels like magic seeing all the disciplines coming together to create an interactive and immersive game.
Even a bit before the pandemic but definitely during it I learned that my whole identity being my job is not the way to go and I'm on a path of learning who I am and what is important to me. One of those important things is creating diverse and inclusive spaces and supporting the communities I'm part of. Another topic is my balcony which I turned into a vegetable garden. I'm also making more time to relax with a good book or by creating paintings with watercolours. Those are topics you will see me write about here for sure. I'm curious how this will play out and if people will actually respond!
📚 The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
This was a spontaneous buy while browsing through the bookstore and positively surprised me. The character of Evelyn is written so well I actually needed to check if she is a real person. I also did not expect the real love story to unfold the way it did. I could not put it down and read it in one go.
“People think that intimacy is about sex. But intimacy is about truth. When you realize you can tell someone your truth, when you can show yourself to them, when you stand in front of them bare and their response is 'you're safe with me'- that's intimacy.”― Taylor Jenkins Reid, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
Best wishes,
